Model United Nations

Model United Nations (MUN) is a mock simulation of the United Nations. Our school is assigned one or two countries to represent at each conference, and other high schools represent the other countries across the globe. Each individual delegate from our school participates in a different committee, such as the World Health Organization, the Economic and Social Committee, etc. The conferences are run by moderators in formal procedure, which includes speeches, caucuses, and lobbying. The end goal of a Model UN conference is for each committee to sign and pass one or more bills (pieces of legislation) that address the key issues of that specific committee.

Benefits of MUN:

  • improve public speaking skills
  • increase awareness regarding global issues
  • build personal skills necessary for lobbying and networking
  • learn United Nations procedure
  • learn to work on a team and make compromises in order to pass bills
